Razer AVA vs Everthine A1: the battle of the desktop AI companions after IFA Berlin 2026

Same week, two shows, two different paths: at IFA Berlin, Everthine unveiled its A1 while Razer was nowhere to be seen; at PAX West 2026, Razer brought AVA to the gaming turf where Everthine doesn't compete. We compare the two desktop AI companions that look most alike in 2026.

Until now, "desktop AI hologram" meant almost exclusively Razer AVA. That changed in September 2026: in the same week, Everthine showed its A1 at IFA Berlin — a direct rival with its own screen and long-term memory — while Razer kept AVA away from that show and focused on PAX West, its usual gaming turf. Two similar products, two different shows, two different market strategies. Here's the full comparison.

02.Razer AVA — the productivity and gaming specialist

Since CES 2026, Razer AVA has built its pitch around usefulness rather than just companionship: it's an agent that acts on your behalf — opening apps, managing your calendar, analyzing gameplay, or reading documents in real time, running locally and in the cloud. The open AIKit SDK lets developers and studios build their own avatars and extensions, something no rival offers yet.

Pros

Open SDK (AIKit), real agentic AI, a more accessible leaked price ($270 / €249), and a growing avatar ecosystem.

Cons

Smaller screen (5.5" vs Everthine's 8.01") and no documented physical privacy shutters.

On timing: Razer has only confirmed the H2 2026 window (July-December), with no official delay of any kind. There is unofficial coverage from specialized outlets suggesting the launch could land toward the tail end of that window — closer to Q4 and Black Friday season — following Razer's usual pattern with premium hardware. We treat this as a reasonable possibility, not a confirmed fact: there's no Razer statement about a delay, nor any price figures other than the already-leaked $270 / €249.

03.Everthine A1 — the challenger with a bigger screen and more memory

Everthine showed its A1 at IFA Berlin (Reseller Park, booth H27o_20): a real-time 3D character on an 8.01-inch curved OLED screen, designed to create a sense of depth as the character rotates, gestures, and reacts. Its biggest strength is long-term memory — it retains details from earlier conversations, recognizes familiar faces and pets, and develops its personality over time.

On sensors, the A1 packs a 6-microphone array with source localization, front and rear cameras, and a 10W speaker. And unlike AVA, it leans hard into physical privacy: a camera shutter and a mic switch, both hardware, not software.

Pros

Bigger screen, well-defined long-term memory, hardware-level privacy controls, and a real, already-confirmed presence at a European show.

Cons

No SDK or developer ecosystem, an indicative-only $800 price, and hardware/software on separate 2026 tracks — software arrives first.

04.Two shows, two strategies: IFA Berlin vs PAX West 2026

It's no coincidence that Razer and Everthine didn't cross paths at the same show. Everthine chose IFA Berlin (September 4-8), Europe's big generalist consumer electronics event — the natural stage for a product sold as household companionship. Razer, meanwhile, brought AVA to PAX West 2026 (September 4-7, Seattle) as a community experience, within its usual role as Chair and Peripherals Partner of the event — its long-standing gaming and esports turf.

IFA Berlin — Everthine A1

Generalist consumer electronics show, European audience, focused on home life and emotional companionship.

PAX West 2026 — Razer AVA

Gaming and esports show, US audience, focused on productivity and the gamer community.

The takeaway is simple: each company is testing its product on the ground where it believes it has an edge. Everthine is betting on the European general-consumer market; Razer, on its already-loyal US gamer base. Neither has yet shown its product on the other's home turf.

05.Who gets to Europe first?

Neither can claim victory yet. Everthine showed up physically on European soil — a real symbolic advantage — but its A1 still has no confirmed hardware date (software arrives first) and no final price. Razer, for its part, already has a localized German product page backed by the legal entity Razer (Europe) GmbH, a sign that a European launch is in motion, but it had no presence at IFA and hasn't announced a euro price beyond the leaked €249.

Bottom line: Everthine won the media moment at IFA, but Razer already has more legal and commercial groundwork laid in Europe. The race for an actual launch — confirmed sale date and euro price — is still open for both.

Our Take

This comparison confirms the "desktop AI companion" segment is no longer a one-company story — but it also makes clear both products remain promises more than actual purchases. Everthine A1 has the flashier hardware on paper — bigger screen, better-documented memory, physical privacy — but it arrives with no developer ecosystem and no hardware date, historically the weak spot of this category (see Lepro Ami, still "coming soon" months later). Razer AVA, on the other hand, already has what Everthine lacks: a working open SDK, a concrete leaked price, and an H2 2026 timeline that, despite unofficial Q4 signals, remains the market's most solid reference point. Our take: if the criterion is "what can I buy sooner with more certainty," Razer AVA is still ahead. If it's "which screen and memory are more impressive today," Everthine A1 wins the headline. We'll update this article as soon as either confirms a European price and sale date.

06.FAQ

Is Everthine A1 the same type of product as Razer AVA?

Yes, conceptually: both are desktop AI companions with a real-time visual character. The main difference is format: AVA projects an actual 3D hologram, while the A1 shows its character on a curved OLED screen.

Which one is cheaper?

As of today, Razer AVA: the leaked reservation figure of $270 / €249 is well below the ~$800 indicative (not final) price Everthine lists for the A1 on its site.

Is Razer AVA's launch slipping to 2027?

There's no such announcement from Razer. The official window remains H2 2026. There are unofficial signals it could land toward the end of that year (Q4, near Black Friday), but that still fits inside the already-confirmed window — it isn't a delay.

Can I already buy either one in Europe?

No. Razer AVA only accepts $20 reservation deposits in the US. Everthine A1 still has no confirmed hardware sale date in any market. Neither is available in Europe today.
